Nobel Greek Tavern first opened its doors in 1996 and has since become a cherished institution in the lively Keilor Road district of Niddrie, Melbourne. Built on a foundation of strong family values, Alex and Maria, both with deep roots in the food industry, have dedicated themselves to creating a place where every guest feels like they’re at a taste of home.

From the beginning, Nobel has been shaped by the spirit of family. Alex’s late father, Christos, was the heart of the kitchen, passing on his love for cooking and his commitment to quality. His influence still lives on in every dish, and now, his grandson Chris, named after him, has joined the family business, marking the beginning of the third generation at Nobel.

Maria, or “Giagia” as she’s affectionately known, continues to bring her old-school, home-style touch to the restaurant, ensuring that every guest is treated like part of the family. Her meticulous care in both the kitchen and the dining room reflects the same warmth and attention to detail she’s always shown in her own home.

With Chris now part of the team, Alex and Maria are proud to carry on the legacy their parents began, blending tradition and innovation to create a dining experience that feels just like home. “We’ve put so much love and dedication into Nobel,” says Alex and Maria. “We want every guest to experience that same warmth, care, and hospitality.”
